• Nueva Vizcaya, Ifugao dads move to stop tribal war issue

BAYOMBONG: Local legislators here and in Ifugao province have called on their constituents for unity and peace in the wake of the previous series of killings irresponsibly linking them to a brewing tribal war between Ilocanos and Ifugaos.

A Joint Resolution No. 2014-190, signed by both provincial board members of Nueva Vizcaya and Ifugao provinces has called for peace, rule of law and also commending the Philippine National Police(PNP) in the matter of peace and order concerns.

“This measure would show that officials of both provinces as well as the PNP have not been remiss in addressing this issue,” the resolution said.

Vice governor Lambert Galima, Jr. said the joint resolution was needed to diffuse the on-going tension due to factual and reported killing incidents that were aggravated by several baseless and irresponsible journalism, airing in radio and text messaging.

“This further enraged and wounded the feelings of Ifugaos and Ilocanos. This has affected the peaceful and harmonious relationship of both provinces,” he said.

Galima said both legislators in Nueva Vizcaya and Ifugao are optimistic that the resolution will put a stop to the intention of lawless elements who are trying to disturb the peace and order situation of the provinces of Ifugao and Nueva Vizcaya.

Copies of the joint resolution was sent to local officials of both provinces, barangays, colleges and universities, PNP , bishop Ramon Villena of the diocese of Bayombong and media practitioners of both provinces. PNA
