• Obama’s military policy in Asia getting interesting

MANY of us Filipinos have been angered by being made to feel helpless by China’s takeover of our reefs in the West Philippine Sea, reclaiming them and making islands out of them, and then building airstrips and garrisons and other military installations on the new islands.

China has also constantly made some of our own fishing grounds off limits to our fishermen.  Large Chinese ships, armed and equipped to sink and drive away non-Chinese boats, have been firing water cannons at Filipino fishermen.  They have also threatened inhabitants of a small island barangay.

The CNN report that we published yesterday, made monitoring China’s aggressive activities in the West Philippine Sea more than just our daily exercise in humiliation. It also made monitoring China’s invasion of our territory a bit more interesting, feeding the hopes of our more warlike countrymen that maybe Uncle Sam will at last do something to aid his Little Brown nephews in the good old P.I. (For those to young to know, “P.I.” or “Philippines Islands” is how Americans called their colony.)

Should we Filipinos rejoice that US “surveillance planes” — some others call them “spy planes” — have been regularly flying over our WPS territory to watch what the Chinese are doing?

Should we worry about what former CIA Deputy Director Michael Morell told CNN’s Erin Burnett on Wednesday night– that the Chinese Navy’s angry demand that the US P8-A Poseidon, America’s most advanced surveillance and submarine-hunting aircraft, “Go away” indicates that there is “absolutely” a risk of the US and China going to war sometime in the future?

Morell thinks that dire eventuality could happen if China continues doing what it is doing now.  CNN reported that Morell said “there’s a real risk, when you have this kind of confrontation, for something bad happening.”

China’s aggressive growth, CNN reported Morell as saying,  “hints at a broader trend as the Asian economic superpower continues to expand its influence and strength” and could “absolutely” lead to war between the US and China.

“China is a rising power. We’re a status quo power. We’re the big dog on the block … They want more influence,” CNN reported Morell as saying. ”Are we going to move a little bit? Are they going to push? How is that dance going to work out? This is a significant issue for the next President of the United States.”

One thing this CNN report of the confrontation between the Chinese Navy and the USA’s surveillance plane–and Morell’s scary talk of war — did is somehow give some credibility to President Aquino’s policy of hoping that Uncle Sam would come to our rescue.
The CNN report did not refer to the Philippines by name at all, though.

But if the fact that President Obama’s strategy for confronting the Islamic Caliphate–conducting airstrikes against ISIS, in coordination with Saudi, Syrian and Iraqi ground troops, and virtually forging an alliance with Iran against the ISIS–could be thought of in the China and Philippines context, then our alliance with America may not be completely useless after all.

What is best for everybody, however, is for Morell’s feared war to never happen.

Remove the China’s facilities in the spratly islands.Everytime they violate the international rules they keep on saying that their moves are legal .Pls. explain to the World if your moves are preparation to reclaim all nations in Asia , where is the legality if they will become terrorist tactics that will destroy peace and security in other neighboring nations? It is right to declare that China is one of the oldest nation that promote terrorism.

US promise to defend PH “Iron Clad”.

And the US has declared this publicly time and time again in the past.

If China succeeds in continuing its “reclamations” and “constructions” in the Spratlys group of islands in the Western Philippine Sea, it could convert two or three of these into CHOKE POINTS which will effectively impede navigation through the Sea Lanes. An estimated $5 trillion worth of trade passes through this particular area. That the United States will not allow China to do.

We all know the Chinese want total control or the so called ” South China Sea” Ok so they want control of all the islands hence they are rushing full speed ahead to build airstrips and military shipping facilities and threating all nations who claim territorial rights if they dare to go near them.

Well I have a cunning plan, the West and all European + Asean Nations should make an immediate (with dire haste) concerted effort to collect all refugee boat people or existing land based refugees and drop them off on all the disputed islands in the South China Sea . How stupid are these ASEAN countries that currently claim a lump of rock based on the fear that huge mineral wealth will be found adjacent. Worth going to war for, I don’t think so. If China takes over these reefs and tiny islands they may well strike lucky here and there but the South China sea is huge and there must be much more chance of finding minerals, gas and oil in such a vast area. The trick is for all the ASEAN countries to agree to share the costs of exploration and equally share the spoils. Isn’t this common sense? We don’t need these little islands to be the cause of WW111 do we, if the Chinese want them, then bloody well take em with of all the worlds refugees of course.

Until such time as a Chinese takeover occurs massive substantial aid must be provided to feed and house the refugees providing of course that the islands remain as per current status, ie, free of Chinese domination. Then if the Chinese get really keen and want more territory in the South China Sea, they can have the lot, the islands, the refugees, the costs of feeding them, along with tolerating any minority who embrace violent religious Jihad, yes all, lock stock and barrel.
Of course I hear you say, but what if the islands are too small to house all the worlds refugees? Well I have the answer to that, quite simply we tender the extension and reclamation of the islands to Chinese companies, after all by now they are the worlds leading experts in this field are they not?

Just think of what a wonderful solution I have proffered. By taking prompt action our politicians will have revealed a truly compassionate face to solve at astroke the worlds refugee problem. By taking decisive action now no more pressure would rest rests upon our wonderful pollies, no more cries of shame by the world community and of course the proletariat are also relieved of their guilt for not insisting to our politicians they fix it.

So lets get on with the job of solving this terrible refugee situation and bringing peace and sanity to the south China Sea conflict. Contact and voraciously lobby your local senator or MP now and insist on action EL PRONTO, before its too late and Chinese occupation of the China Sea becomes a fait accompli !!

    5. If no option to barred the chinese vessels from driving away our fishermen within our Philippine territory. I agree to bomb the chinese ships. It is sure that Chinese bullying us.
Aren’t you afraid that the Chinese Navy will send fighter jets to bring down the Philippine plane bombing the Chinese ships? Or the Chinese ship will just shoo down the Philippine bommber plane? Do we have bomber planes? Do we have bombs?

But the US doesn’t dare confront the Chinese Navy and stop the Communist-Party ruled China from taking over Philippine reefs and islets!
I suspect the headlines about this are aimed at giving a smokescreen to the abominable Abnoy’s effort to railroad passage by Congress of the illegal, unconstitutional and treasonous Bangsamoro Basic Law bill.
Obama and the US military just responded to Abominable Abnoy’s call for help.
Pity the Filipino people and our Republic.

The Philippines should draw a DEMARCATION LINE on the map, a line of its jurisdiction based on the UNITED NATIONS MARITIME LAW and stop the war of words in the local media. The Philippines should release a comprehensive signed agreement with all the nations respecting their line of jurisdiction. This is to justify that China is in violation of Philippine jurisdiction. This must be clarified by the Philippines through the international media. Once the Philippines have established her case of China’s encroachment to its territory, then China cannot drive-off the Filipino fishermen out of the Philippine waters. The Philippine should give warning to the Chinese in a diplomatic way that they cannot encroached inside the Philippine territory or may face grave consequences to defend the Philippine sovereignty. If China still disregard the line of Philippine jurisdiction and still drive out our fishermen fishing in our waters, then the President should order the Philippine Airforce to sink Chinese ship involved in the cannon watering of our fishermen. Then let the United States takes over after sinking their ship through the Philippine-United States Mutual Defense Agreement.. This is the way to handle the situation in the region instead of war of words with the Chinese. Chinese are doing their part reclamation of the islets. The Philippines should do their part protecting the SOVEREIGNTY OF THE COUNTRY.
Does the Philippine Navy have the means to sink Chinese Navy ships? Ha ha ha ha ha!

Let’s stop making negative comments. Why can’t we reach a common goal to help our country response against the invasion of China into our sovereignty.

      • Does the Chinese navy have the means to stop small fast craft loaded down with explosives – swarming and suicide bombing it’s naval ships ? Maybe. Maybe not.
