Occeno, De la Cruz shine in Langoy Capiz

Promising tankers Rose Mary Occeno and Alic Daniel de la Cruz dominated their respective races in the Philippine Swimming League (PSL) 66th Leg Series titled Langoy Capiz at the Villareal Stadium in Roxas, Capiz.

De la Cruz of Capiz Turbo Sharks topped the 200 meters Individual Medley (IM), 100-meter backstroke, 50-meter breaststroke, 100-meter butterfly, 100-meter breastroke and 50-meter freestyle in the 13 to 14 age group category while Rose Mary Occeno of JB Lacson Maritime Foundation, a Universiade qualifier, won the 200-meter IM, 100-meter backstroke, 50 and 100-meter breastroke, 200, 400 and 50-meter freestyle as well as the 100-meter butterfly. De la Cruz and Occeno both bagged the Most Outstanding Swimmer award.

“PSL Regional Director for Western Visayas Jose Borres is delighted that many in the Visayan region are getting involved in our regional meet preparing them to compete in international swimming com-petitions, said PSL President Susan Papa.

Also named outstanding tankers were Samantha Kiera Lachica, Joan Cathryn Perez, Kyla Soguilon, Trisha Lei Bongco, Alic Daniel De la Cruz, Toni Ann Garcesto, Rose Mary Occeno, Denver Tolinero, Michael Gabriel Lozada, John Lloyd Yatar, John David Villaruz, Franchino Milano Aplaon, Jason Adrian Mirabueno and Jason Ellemo Villaruz.

JB Lacson Maritime Foundation University ruled the team event followed by Aklan Swim Team and Capiz Turbo Sharks.

The PSL, as the only national association with longest running grassroots developmental prog-ram, is organizing regional swimming meets in different regions of the Philippines.
