Down from 6.7% in July, 6.4% year-earlier
Unemployment in the Philippines dropped to 6 percent in October from 6.4 percent a year earlier, the government said on Wednesday.
The figures were based on preliminary results of the Labor Force Survey (LFS) released by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). The data excludes results from Leyte province, the agency said.
“In this report, for purposes of comparing with the October 2014 results, the October 2013 labor and employment indicators were computed using the October 2013 LFS data that excludes those for the province of Leyte,” the PSA explained.
In the last periodic survey conducted in July, unemployment was recorded at 6.7 percent. MAYVELIN U. CARABALLO REPORTER
