Customers of Manila Electric Company (Meralco) will see their electricity bill drop this month after the generation charge hit a record low.
In a statement, Meralco said its rates will be cut by 54-centavo per kilowatthour (kWh) in October.
That means the bill of a typical household using 200 kwh will be lower than by around P108.
Meralco said the generation charge went down by 49 centavos per kWh to P4.68 per kWh, its lowest level since October 2010.
It attributed the drop to the P8.99 per kWh reduction in the cost of power sourced from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM).
