An octogenarian passenger died while on flight to Manila from Vancouver, Canada, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said on Monday. It reported Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight PR117 had said that a passenger, 82-year-old passenger Macario Gonzales, a Canadian citizen, died on board. Gonzales who was flying with his wife, Juana, has requested the flight attendants for hot water compress when he started experiencing back pain, seven hours before the plane touchdown the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) runway. His condition became worse as flight 117 was about three hours and a half from final approach to the premier airport. MIAA medical report said that Gonzales’ wife, Juana, noticed that Gonzales was unresponsive when she tried to wake him up. A physician on board identified as Paulyn Jean Ubial attempted to revive Gonzales but to no avail. The patient was later pronounced dead due to cardio pulmonary arrest.
