Obviously, I love makeup. But I’m really loving them more these days what with such imaginative and ingenious product developments the world of cosmetics has churned out.

At the risk of sounding self-absorbed (my mother’s cringing just about now), I quite feel like the universe has even looked upon my favorite things as basis for two new lines of makeup that I’m sure fellow cosmetics fans will swoon over.

The first is chocolate. And this is the non-fattening kind!

All thanks to premium Japanese makeup brand Lunasol, we can have our fill of chocolate with its Autumn/Winter 2015 line of cosmetics and still look ravishing. Inspired by the eternal food for the gods, Lunasol’s “Chocolat” collection is indulgent in every way, from packaging, to color palette, to feel, and—yes—even to taste.

The collection’s eye shadows, especially, open up like an exquisite box of chocolates. Moreover, they are deliciously named so with such selections as Chocolate Pistache, Chocolat Framboise and Chocolate Orange for the “Duo de Choclat Eyes” range; and Chocolat Blanc, Chocolat Amer, and Chocolat Raisin for the four-palette “Selection De Chocolat Eyes.”

Now, before I go on to talk about the shades in this intriguing makeup collection, let me just entice choco-cosmetics lovers a tad more and give a run through of a few of the lipstick line, “Melty Chocolat’s” selections: There’s Creamy Mocha, Mauve Cacao, Milk Chocolat, Rose Chocolat, and Chocolat Brown.

From these sweet and delectable names, what I believe is most significant for the Filipina consumer is that Lunasol offers a color palette that is just perfect for her skin tone and preference. Especially since the global cosmetics scene is gearing toward metallic shades for the last quarter of 2015, this classic brand has chosen to go with rich browns and elegant nudes, with hints of pink, purple, and orange to brighten up an overall understated and sophisticated look.

“Lunasol is a luxury Japanese brand of makeup that is quietly successful in the Philippines because of the fact that it doesn’t necessarily go with makeup trends, but really the Asian face and their discriminating tastes in mind,” long-time and well-versed makeup and skincare marketing executive Robby da Silva told The T-Zone. “And besides the eye and lip collection, Lunasol’s Chocolate line is as complete as our market like their makeup collections to be. It has makeup bases, gel liners, and cheek creams that go with the eye and lip colors.”

Oh, and best of all, the products feel as velvety as chocolate on the skin, and even smell and taste as sweet!

My next favorite thing—having sensitive skin and all—are products that are dermatologist approved. Usually, these are cleansers, moisturizers, and toners. But happily, for a trusted brand of dermatologically sound skincare range, Céleteque, even makeup can be as caring, nourishing, and “anti-aging” as their liquids and creams.

Value for money is makeup that doubles as skincare

Yes, I am also loving the all new Céleteque DermoCosmetics collection that offers the best of both worlds: expert skincare solutions and a fabulous makeup range for the face, lips, cheeks, and eyes.

Just like its skincare line, Céleteque’s makeup provides 24/7 skincare with each product infused with essential active ingredients. For example, my pick of the pack is the Céleteque DermoCosmetics 24-hour Photoready Foundation, which not only provides a smooth airbrush finish for 24 hours and conceals dark spots, but also contains Phytocelltec, a component harnessed from cutting-edge plant cell culture technology that has extensive anti-aging properties.

Running through the rest of the range, they have the Dual CC Matte Powder with Tocopheryl Acetate, which promotes skin hydration; the Dark Spot Concealer Stick, Cytobiol Lumin-eye, which efficiently reduces puffy eyebags within 15 days; the Eyebrow Nourishing Serum with Biotinyl Tripeptide-1, which makes the brows stronger and healthier; and the Cheek Color Stick, Matte Lip Stick, Blush and Face Contour Kit, all packed with Bisabolol, an essential oil from a German Chamomile plant, which reduces flakiness from dry skin.

Already priced reasonably, this makeup range—whose color palette is perfect for all day wear—is value for money in every way. For, not only does it offer beauty solutions for consumers, but it also provides skincare benefits at the same time.

Lunasol is distributed by KaneFil Global Enterprises and available at Rustan’s The Beauty Source sections; while Céleteque DermoCosmetics is available in select Watsons Beauty Stores.
