Official disowns nine men in gun raps

TUGUEGARAO CITY: The vice governor of Isabela province disowned as his bodyguards the nine suspects including three provincial guards the Cagayan police arrested earlier this week for illegal firearms possession in the boundary of Peñablanca town in Cagayan and San Pablo town in Isabela.

Isabela’s first district Rep.-elect, Vice Gov. Rodito Albano has, however, chided the Cagayan province police operatives whom he said were “eager-beaver” in arresting the suspects.

“[These men] were only responding to an indiscriminate firing incident by still unidentified men inside our ranch in San Pablo town in Isabela,” Albano said.

Albano said that, the police should instead run after and arrest those responsible for the firing incident inside their ranch and not the capitol guards who were just responding to the reported incident.

Earlier, the Cagayan Philippine National Police identified the arrested who were reportedly political supporters of Albano as Gilmar Belleza 29, Vincente Bassig 20, and Alvin Chavez, 22 who are employed with the Provincial Services Office of Isabela
The others also arrested for gun ban violation were identified as Bobby Antonio 47, Charles Calamba 35, Gilmon Beran 33, Pio Agustin 46, Oliver Pira 31, Antonio Paguirigan 53 who are all townmates of Albano in San Pablo town in Isabela.

Seized from them were two .45 pistols, a .357 Smith and Wesson magnum revolver, an Armscor 9mm pistol, one M16 rifle, an Ingram 9mm submachine gun and several rounds of ammunition, reports said.
