• OFW comes home to bleak Father’s Day

SAMAL, Bataan: An Overseas Filipino Worker buried his wife and child who were killed by still unknown suspects in Samal, Bataan on Saturday, the eve of Father’s Day.

“Hindi na ako father ngayon sapagka’t wala na akong asawa at anak (I am no longer a father. I have no more wife and daughter),” said Engr. Marlon Javate, 33, choking in tears when asked how he will be on Father’s Day.

His wife Mariven, 33, and their 2 and a half year old daughter were found dead inside the comfort room of their residence in barangay East Calaguiman, Samal on Monday.

The mother and child who sustained multiple hack wounds on the hands and other parts of their bodies were the only occupants of the house while Marlon worked as a civil engineer in East Africa. He arrived on Wednesday.

Marlon stayed for only four months in East Africa but he has worked in other countries in the past.

He asked one of his relatives to go to their house after he tried but failed to contact his wife Sunday night.

“Sa mga otoridad, hiling ko sana bilisan ang aksiyon para lumabas ang tunay na salarin at pagbayaran ang ginawa sa pamilya ko (To the authorities, I ask that the real culprit be arrested to pay what they did to my family),” he said.

He called on police agencies to stop illegal drugs that he believed as behind the death of his loved ones.

“Masugpo na rin sana ang droga dahil malaking salot ito sa lipunan. Pati mga taong nabubuhay ng maayos, tahimik napeperhuwisyo. Paigtingin sana kampanya laban sa droga (I hope illegal drugs be stopped. Law-abiding citizens are affected. The campaign against illegal drugs should be heightened),” Marlon said.

Marlon said police have already a suspect but investigation is still ongoing.
