OFW dies before reaching Philippines


An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) coming back to the Philippines after years of working in Saudi Arabia died while on his way back to Manila, a Philippine welfare official said. Welfare Officer Amelito Adel of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration said in an aired interview over TV station GMA News that the OFW, who was not immediately identified, died inside the airport clinic in Bahrain on February 24, the day the victim was supposed to fly to the Philippines. He added that they are now taking efforts to contact the immediate relatives of the OFW, who was only identified as 37 years old and a passenger of a Gulf Air Flight from Jeddah.
