• OFWs discouraged FROM GIVING tips at NAIA

Departing overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) were advised not to give tips to bank tellers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) when they refund their airport terminal fees. A “no tipping” sign was posted on the windows of banks tellers reminding OFWs lining up to refund P550 terminal fees. Under the Migrant Workers’ Act of 1995, OFWs are entitled to an exemption from paying terminal fees and the travel tax. It was reported that some OFWs give P50 bills as a tip before leaving the counter, which prompted management to post a no tipping signboard.
