Based on the hints given by Willie Revillame and Gelli de Belen it seems Ogie Alcasid’s transfer to the Kapatid network TV5 is already a done deal.
But just like a true gentleman, the president of the Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mangaawit (OPM) continued to keep mum about his plans once his contract with GMA 7 expires in June.
“Honest answer: I really don’t know,” Ogie told reporters during the recent press conference of his new show: Bonakid Pre-School Ready Set Laban.
“My contract is going to end in June, and until then . . . I don’t know what’s going on. But while it’s going on, I’ll stay with GMA.”
Aside from his TV commitments, Ogie is also busy shooting for the movie Raketeros produced by Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista, and helping discover new talents by once again partnering with Pagcor for “OPM@PAGCOR 3: A Nationwide Search for the Total OPM Performer.”
Does he have plans of transferring to TV5?
“Wala pa, e. I’m still here. I’m still a Kapuso,” was his short and frank answer.
But when asked about the status of his contract negotiations, Ogie gave a more intriguing answer; “Wala pa. Nothing’s happening. Non-existent, period.”
Kiddie game show
Reporters were also intrigued because his new show will only run until mid-June, about the same time his contract expires.
But as Bonakid Pre-School senior product manager Aubrey Iñigo explained, the show has nothing to do with Ogie’s contract with GMA.
“The eight-week run just happ-ens to coincide with our marketing campaign,” she explained.
Bonakid Pre-School Ready Set Laban, is an action-packed kiddie show that will test the strength, energy and determination of kids. Hosted by Ogie Alcasid, the show marks the third partnership between Wyeth Nutrition and GMA Network.
The game show is comprised of various challenges set in an exciting custom-built obstacle course. Each episode features two teams consisting of mom and kid tandems that will compete in a qualifying game which will be randomly selected. The team that wins the qualifying game will get to advance to the main challenge which is the Triple Boost Maze, a growth, energy and immunity challenge rolled into one thrilling game.
“We are really excited about Bonakid Pre-School Ready Set Laban as it showcases kids who are strong, determined and always up for the challenge. Or kids whom we call Batang may Laban,” says Iñigo. “This is in line with Bonakid Pre-School’s commitment to help moms empower their kids so that they will have the strength and confidence to conquer any challenge.”
On his part, Ogie says he enjoys hosting the show because he gets to see the kids just having fun.
“Kapag nakikita ko iyong saya ng mga bata, kahit hindi sila nanalo, pero when they’re enjoying the game, ano iyon, e . . . it’s wonderful to see.”
Ogie adds he also talking with the mommies to ask them about their children. “Siyempre, I also have a one-year-old son, Nate, so tinatanong ko kung gaano kalikot . . . so, I get to bond with them.”
