One billion euros eyed for EU youth employment

0

European Union (EU) members of parliament debated the latest plan to make 1 billion euros ($1.13 billion) in Youth Employment Initiative funding available in 2015, with European Commissioner Marianne Thyssen on Wednesday morning. A majority of speakers backed the idea of speeding up the delivery of funding for projects to fight youth unemployment. EU unemployment has reached 7.5 million, with the worst-hit regions, especially in southern Europe, with up to 50 percent of 15-24 year olds being unemployed.
