An old woman was killed while three others were hurt in two separate fire incidents in Taguig and Las Piñas cities (Metro Manila). A 96-year-old woman, named Manuela Buquel, was charred to death inside her room when a fire broke out on Apag Street in Barangay Ususan on Friday morning. FO1 Lady Arcega said the fire started at 10:45 am, reached first alarm and was put out at 11:11 am. The fire marshal said the old woman failed to escape from her burning house. Meanwhile, three people were injured in a Las Piñas fire that gutted around 40 houses on Thursday night. Victims Florencio Alfaro, 52; Elsa Sevilla, 42; and Mary Ann Importante, 50, suffered first-degree burns and were brought at the University of Perpetual Help Dalta Medical Center. FO2 Daise Pedralde said the fire started at 7:30 pm on E. Trinidad Street, San Isidro, Barangay Pamplona Uno. The fire reached second alarm and was put out after two hours. Residents who lost their homes are temporarily taking shelter at the barangay hall. Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the fires.
