LIMAY: A service bus collided with a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanker along the Roman Super-highway in Barangay Lamao on Friday, leaving one dead and 30 injured.
Limay Police Chief Police Supt. Felix Castro said Alex Mungcal, 43, the driver of the LPG tanker, died on the spot while two truck helpers and 28 workers were brought to different hospitals.
Nineteen persons were treated at the Limay Emergency Hospital and 11 others were rushed to the Bataan General Hospital in Balanga City.
Investigations showed that the tanker came from San Fernando, Pampanga and was heading towards Liquigaz in Mariveles, Bataan when it collided with the Limay-bound bus carrying workers of a Korean company at about 6 a.m.
The front portion of the LPG tanker was heavily damaged while the left side of the bus was dented. The service bus narrowly missed a head-on collision.
Victor Pangan, one of the two truck helpers of the LPG tanker, said his driver shouted when the two vehicles smashed.
