One person dead as three fires hit Manila


A 49-year-old woman was killed in one of the three separate blazes in Manila. Arson division of the Manila Police identified the victim as Marietta Crebillo Beringuel, a resident of Loreto Street, Barangay 429, Zone 422, Sampaloc. She was trapped in the room where she slept. The fire started at 5:06 p.m. on Tuesday and 10 houses were damaged which reached fifth alarm. Fire out was declared at 6:25 evening. At 11:11 p.m., also Tuesday, another blaze broke out at the corner of Solis and Dagupan streets in Tondo. The fire was caused by an electrical shortage in the house owned by Elmer Guittap, 44. Three more houses were affected. The third blaze happened yesterday at 1:28 a.m. that originated from a house owned by Danny Reyes of 1568 Maria Clara Street, Santa Cruz. It reached third alarm and was declared fire out at 1:54 a.m. The damage was placed at P50 thousand.
