Their throngs of social media followers have seen these two couples during their “happier days,” but earlier this week, Canadian singer Justin Bieber and former girlfriend American singer-actress Selena Gomez as well as Philippine showbiz’s former couple Andi Eigenmann and Jake Ejercito, have demonstrated the somber side of breakups.

Many fans were surprised after the heated Twitter exchanges between actress Andi Eigenmann and her ex-boyfriend Jake Ejercito on Tuesday.
The issue started when Ejercito posted a lengthy tweet, accusing Eigenmann of using his name to promote the latter’s movie, Camp Sawi, in an interview.
“Alright, I’ve no idea why I’m being mentioned in interviews to promote something I’m not even part of and when my closest connection to the film is someone I haven’t been in proper contact with for a long time. Can’t you promote your film by only entertaining questions about the film or perhaps your career?” the son of former President Joseph Ejercito Estrada and former actress Laarni Enriquez wrote.
“As much as I’ve tried my best to ignore it, I can’t stay silent when I am conveniently and effortlessly being maligned out of nowhere,” he added.
Eigenmann then refuted and defended herself, saying it was normal for the media to ask the main characters about their past romance—and since the movie title asks for it, it includes all the heartbreaks.
Jacylyn Jose’s daughter stressed that she has four other beautiful, sexy and talented co-stars—namely Arci Muñoz, Yassi Pressman, Bela Padilla, and Kim Molina—in the movie and that she doesn’t need Ejercito just to promote it. She also Tweeted that out of all the ladies’ exes, Ejercito was the only one who reacted.
“If you have no ounce of respect for me, then I have lost all respect I had left for you,” she said before ending her barrage of tweets.
Eigenmann’s retaliation have made a buzz on social media so much so that one follower called the attention of Ejercito and told him that he should respect the 26-year-old actress.
But Ejercito declined to do so and instead answered, “Rather be real than be a relevant sham any day.”
To which Eigenmann made a quick slam, and refuted, “‘Relevant sham’ said the talentless guy who joined AlDub to stay in the spotlight and campaign for his dad.”
The tweet was in reference to Ejercito’s sudden popularity when he appeared on Eat Bulaga’s “Kalyeserye” starring the phenomenal love team Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza, also known as AlDub.
In the end, the ABS-CBN actress said she holds no regrets in answering Jake’s accusation, “I merely stood up for myself. And that is something I will not apologize for.”
Ejercito, on the other hand, posted: “Stay positive and stay real. And smile through the bs.”
The former lovers have known each other since they were children and have committed in a relationship in their adulthood. They finally ended their on-again-off-again relationship in 2014.

Bieber and Gomez over Instagram
It all started when the 22-year old musician made his relationship with Sofia Richie public through his Instagram account.
Like any millennial in love, he would gamely post photos of him with the 17-year old model. Prior to their social media postings, the showbiz couple had been photographed together several times in weeks past, sparking rumors that they are dating.
True he’d see hateful comments hurled against Lionel Richie’s daughter here and there but on Sunday night (Monday in Manila) Bieber showed he’s had enough.
“I’m gonna make my Instagram private if you guys don’t stop the hate. This is getting out of hand, if you guys are really fans you wouldn’t be so mean to people that I like,” Bieber first threatened.
But aside from some of his 77 million followers who posted nasty comments, Bieber’s former girlfriend, Gomez, got herself into the fiasco when she, too, posted a comment hoping to defend Bieber’s fans.
“If you can’t handle the hate then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend—it should be special between you two only,” the 24-year-old wrote.
“Don’t be mad at your fans. They love you. They were there for you before anyone,” the former Disney Channel star added.
The comment did not sit well with Bieber who rebutted, “It’s funny to see people that used me for attention and still try to point the finger this way. Sad. All love.”
The spat further escalated when Gomez countered Bieber’s statement, “Funny how the ones that cheated multiple times, are pointing the finger at the ones that were forgiving and supportive, no wonder fans are mad. Sad. All love.”
The night after their publicized row, Bieber took his threat one drastic step further and deleted his Instagram account. Gomez, on the other hand, apologized for the drama through a Snapchat—another social media platform—post that read, “What I said was selfish and pointless.”
