Police in Muntinlupa City conducting “Oplan Galugad” over the weekend apprehended six minors and arrested 39 individuals as they implemented the local ordinances on curfew and drinking in public places.
Muntinlupa Police Col. Nic Salvador said the minors apprehended in Alabang and NHA Upper Poblacion, together with their parents, were brought to their respective barangay halls for parental counseling. Violators are expected to render community service as their penalty.
The citywide Curfew Ordinance 02-030 says that no person 17 years of age and below is allowed to stay outside his home or residence from 11 p.m. up to 4 a.m.
Terminal offenders of the curfew ordinance may be referred to the Department of Social Welfare and Development for confinement in government reformatory institutions.
The other 39 individuals were arrested for illegal gambling and violation of City Ordinance 88-07 which prohibits locals to drink liquor in public places and sidewalks. Penalty for said violation is up to seven years of imprisonment.
Mayor Jaime Fresnedi said the ordinances will be revisited, amended, and strictly implemented in the coming days.
