‘Oplan Galugad’ seizes Bible with contraband

Authorities on Thursday conducted the 23rd Oplan Galugad at the Reception and Diagnostic Center (RDC), where personnel of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) confiscated eight cellular phones and sex enhancer pills that were stuffed in books, including a Bible, carved as secret storage boxes. The RDC houses new inmates on a 90-day orientation period before they are transferred to their respective compounds. Retired Lt. Gen. Ricardo Rainier Cruz 3rd, director general of BuCor, said there is a newly-established inventory committee to facilitate the disposal of illegal items that were seized since November last year. Meanwhile, jail guards will be placed on a higher alert level next week in observance of the Lenten season and visitations will be suspended on Maundy Thursday and Black Friday.
