World champion Dennis Orcollo wound up second in the 2014 Guangzhou Open held in Guangzhou, China.
The 35-year-old Orcollo settled for the runner-up trophy following a 7-13 loss to Chu Bingjie of China in the finals.
Orcollo, nonetheless, bagged a whopping 70,000 Chinese Yuan (some P500,000) runner-up purse while Chu pocketed the CNY 150,000 (some P1 million) top prize.
The Filipino cue master made it to the finals by ousting Wu Kun Kin of China in the semifinals (11-6) and another Chinese player Dang Jin Hu in the quarterfinals (11-9) while Chu outplayed Taiwanese artists Ko Pin Yi in the semifinals (11-4) and Lo Li Wen in the quarterfinals (11-10).
Orcollo has so far won seven titles this year—the 20th US Bar Table Championships Men’s 10-Ball Division, 15th US Open One Pocket Championship, Derby City Classic 2014 Master of the Table, Derby City Classic 2014 9-Ball Banks Division, Derby City Classic 2014 14.1 Challenge, 2014 Jay Swanson Memorial and The Action Report 38.
Orcollo sets his sights on the 9-Ball, 8-Ball and 10-Ball world championships as well as the US Open, China Open and Japan Open.
