Oro politics: Moreno flexes muscle


Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno announced his line-up for the May 2016 polls that includes erstwhile allies of former mayor Dongkoy Emano and second district Rep. Rufus Rodriguez.

Moreno also maintained his political ties with First District Rep. Klarex Uy.

On Friday, Moreno and City Hall department heads faced civil society organizations in forum dubbed Ulat ng Bayan, which is organized by the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro at the Lourdes College Auditorium.

Moreno announced his line-up for councilors during the turn-over ceremony of the P56-million classroom construction project at the East Gusa National High School on Friday.

Included in his line-up for the first district are Councilor Zaldy Ocon, Balulang Barangay Chairman Alfredo Carcosa, former vice mayor Antonio Soriano, former ABC president Merlyn Lagumen, Dr. Buboy Daba, retired general Romy Calizo, businessman George Goking, and Tawing Uy, son of first district Rep. Klarez Uy.

For the second district, Moreno’s line-up includes former Misamis Oriental vice governor Norris Babiera, lawyer Dale Mordeno, businessman Nixon Baban, Engr. Roger Villazorda, Seling Pacana and Dr. Maria Lourdes Gaane.

According to Maricel Casino, the mayor’s spokesperson, more personalities from the camps of Rodriguez and Emano are transferring to the Liberal Party.
