LUCENA CITY: Gov. David “Jayjay” Suarez of Quezon province was named by the Association of Local Social Welfare and Development Officers of the Philippines Incorporated (ALSWDOPI) as 2013’s Most Outstanding Governor of the Philippines in the field of local social welfare and development. The governor met and surpassed the association’s criteria in the promotion of the welfare of the youth, senior citizens and persons with disabilities. He also provided assistance not only to his fellow Quezonians who were victims of Super Typhoon Yolanda but to the residents of the Visayas region as well. He received the Galing-Pook Award from the Department of Interior and Local Government for his “Lingap Kalusugan para sa Barangay” or Health Coupon program that has helped over 100,000 people. Mayor Isaias “Sonny” Ubana 2nd of Lopez town was named as the Most Outstanding Municipal Mayor in the field of local social welfare and development while Anibel Cayabat of Buenavista, Quezon, was named as the Most Outstanding Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer. The awarding ceremonies will be held during the 18th Forum and General Assembly on April 22 to 25 at the Sarabia Manor and Convention Center in Iloilo City.
