THE Philippine National Police (PNP) has recorded a total of 17,680 persons neutralized in its stepped-up anti-illegal drugs operations from January 1 to June 15. PNP Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management (DIDM) data showed that they were arrested through operations, service of arrest and search warrants, checkpoints and other forms of police operations. PNP spokesman, Chief Supt. Wilben Mayor said that out of the 17,680 individuals arrested, the largest number was from the Southern Tagalog Region at 4,874, followed by the National Capital Region with 3,760 and Central Luzon with 3,004. Out of the 68 suspects killed, with Central Luzon recorded the most number with 25 dead from tactical engagements or encounters, while Calabarzon recorded 14 slain suspects.
