OVERLOADED TRUCKS DESTROY HIGHWAYS

LUCENA CITY: Overloaded trucks plying the national highway contributed to the road network’s damage, Quezon Public Works District 2 Chief Cely Flancia, the other day reported during the joint committee hearing by the provincial council concerning implementation of Philippine Highways Act. She said overloaded trucks and other vehicles, in addition to heavy rainfall and flooding, is the main contributor why the several roads, including the Diversion Roads in her district, is always damaged and need to be repaired. The vehicles capacity weight far exceeds the capacity of the road, Flancia added, which lead to the highway’s ultimate wear and tear condition.
