• OWWA assists 10 repatriated OFWs

THE overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) extended full assistance to 10 Filipino migrant employees of Mohammad Al-Mojil Group (MMG) recently repatriated from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after the company suffered financial setbacks in 2014 resulting in non-payment of salaries and other benefits. OWWA Administrator Rebecca Calzado said they are facilitating applications for the Balik-Pinas, Balik-Hanapbuhay program, a livelihood assistance for distressed/displaced workers in the form of starter kits and skills training worth P10,000. From January to December 2015, a total of 308 OFWs employed by MMG have been repatriated. Thirty workers were transferred to other companies, while 575 Filipinos are still working in various projects of MMG.
