P1.5 M marijuana bricks seized in San Fernando

SAN FERNANDO, La Union: A joint police and anti-narcotics team seized dried marijuana bricks worth P12.49 in a buy-bust operation here on Wednesday, a top official of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said.

Adrian Alvarino, PDEA regional director, said four suspects were arrested in the operation at Barangay Naguituban but one man managed to escape.

“Nanggaling pa sila sa Benguet hanggang makarating sila sa San Fernando, La Union kung saan nagkitakita ang mga suspects at doon na rin nagsimula ang transaction,” Alvariño said.

The marijuana bricks were transported from Alilem, Ilocos Sur. Police confiscated suspects’ Isuzu Trooper, several mobile phones and an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspects were identified as Wilno Bagnisen of Barangay Bakun, Benguet, Nomer Salvacion, Ronald Pedro and April Boy Egosquiza of Makati City.

Alvarino said investigators were preparing to file charges against the suspects for violation of the anti-drugs law.
