The General Santos City Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operation Task Group seized some 120 grams of shabu estimated to cost P1,080,000 in a buy-bust at Purok 13B Barangay Fatima in this city. A policeman in civilian attire posing as a buyer led to the arrest of a big-time drug pusher and five others. Police Supt. Romeo Galgo Jr., the bregional police Anti-Illegal Drug Group information officer, identified the arrested drug pusher as Sahada Malawan alias “Madam,” 36 as well as the five others namely: Ismael Sagan, Ebrahim Sagan, Jeric Macalang and two female minors whose names were withheld. Galgo said Malawan’s group has been on the most wanted list and has eluded arrest many times. Police records show that this is a locally organized group of shabu couriers whose supply comes from Maguindanao province. It is believed to be under the protection of a top ranking police officer in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM). Galgo said they are evaluating reports that some local officials coming from the seven component towns in Sarangani province are hooked on illegal drugs and some are engaged in selling shabu as well. “This Malawan group is highly organized and has developed its own system of delivering the illegal drugs to its target clients and is considered the big catch of the task groupthis year,” he added. Malawan and his group have been charged with possession of illegal drugs while the two minors were endorsed to the City Social Welfare and Development Office.
