SENIOR citizens in Parañaque City (Metro Manila) who have reached the age of 100 can now claim their additional cash incentives from the local government.
The city council had approved an ordinance increasing the allowance given to centenarians from P10,000 to P100,000.
“[The] City Government of Parañaque, in recognition of the invaluable contribution of senior citizens to nation-building, grants benefits and privileges to senior citizens pursuant to the objectives of Republic Act 9994, otherwise known as the Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010,” read part of Ordinance No. 15-26 Series of 2015, passed on November 26, 2015.
He ordinance said the P100,000 is only an addition to the perks provided by the local government to residents enrolled in the city’s Office of Senior Citizen Affairs (OSCA).
Other benefits of elderly citizens in Parañaque include free laboratory and medical examinations on their birthdays, P500 birthday cash gift and P500 for Christmas, plus free movies passes.
The ordinance, however, clarified that those who are entitled to the P100,000 cash incentives are only those who have marked their 100th birthday from January 1, 2016 and holders of a senior citizen card issued in Parañaque for at least three years.
