The task force investigating the slaying of journalist Alex Balcoba has raised P100,000 as cash reward for any information that will lead to the identification and arrest of his killers.
Manila Police District Director Rolando Nana and the MPD Press Corps, through its president Francis “Kiko” Naguit, contributed P50,000 in a bid to solve the killing that some say may not have been work related.
Probers are looking into reports that Balcoba had a misunderstanding with somebody for refusing to vacate the lot his store was occupying to give way for the construction of a building.
Balcoba’s wake is at Dulce Funeral Homes along Jose Abad Santos Avenue in Tondo. Cremation will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the La Loma Cemetery in Manila.
Meanwhile, the National Bureau of Investigation is looking into reports that Balcoba received death threats before he was shot dead. It was learned that a high-ranking police officer was the subject of his series of columns in People’s Balita tabloid.
