Some Php12 million worth of cocaine was seized by authorities from a Mexican national belonging to Mexico’s powerful Sinaloa drug cartel while selling cocaine in Makati City.
Chief Inspector Roque Merdeguia, spokesman of the PNP Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force (AIDSOTF), identified the suspect as Horacio Hernandez, 39. He was arrested while selling 2.5 kilograms cocaine worth US$ 120,000 at the parking lot of the Berjaya hotel around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.
“Ang street value nito ay Php12 million. Selling price niya ay US$ 120,000,” Merdeguia said.
Members of the AIDSOTF and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) carried out the “buy-bust” operation after being tipped off by an informant, he said.
Merdeguia said that Hernandez trusted the undercover agents as legit buyer and the suspect staying in the country since 2013 with plan to produce a cartel in the country.
According to Merdeguia, Hernandez was brought to the PDEA office following his arrest and will be charged with violating Section 5 (drug pushing) of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Anti-llegal Drugs Law. PNA
