P13-M El Niño aid GIVEN TO Kalinga farmers

TABUK CITY, Kalinga: A total of P13 million-worth of farm implements from the national government was allotted to help farmers recover their losses from the effects of the long dry spell in the province. Provincial Agriculturist Domingo Bakilan said the financial assistance will come form the El Niño Mitigation Program of the Department of Agriculture (DA) to be downloaded to the provincial government for the procurement of certified rice, corn and vegetable seeds, mechanized water pump sets and livestock. The DA said the aid will be distributed to partner farmers associations duly registered with DA through the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist. Most farmers here are reeling from a missed cropping due to the long water cut-off while a major rehabilitation project on the Upper Chico River Irrigation System is ongoing.
