BAGUIO CITY: Water works projects get the bulk of the funding under the Bottom Up Budgeting (BUB) of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Mountain Province this year.
A total amount of P18.3 million has been approved for four projects in the province, with P13 million allotted for water system projects.
Covered are the villages of Poblacion, Butac and Santa Isabel in Natonin, appropriated with P2.1 million each; while P4 million is for a water system project in Abatan, Bauko town; and P3 million for Besao town that will benefit the villages of Kin-iway, Padangaan and Payeo.
The remaining P5 million is appropriated for an evacuation facility in Poblacion, Sadanga.
Under the Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA) of the DILG, the total amount of P8.5 million is allocated for three projects in the province.
The amount of P6 million is earmarked for the improvement of water system in the villages of Kayan West and Lubon in Tadian; P1.5 million for the completion of the evacuation center in Barangay Ambagiw in Besao; and P1 million for the improvement of the Can-eo waiting shed in Bontoc municipality.
DILG Cordillera Regional Director John Castaneda turned over the symbolic checks representing the amounts from BUB and PAMANA during the inauguration of the Provincial DILG Office in Bontoc, Mountain Province recently.
He also turned over to Bontoc Mayor Franklin Odsey a check amounting to P500,000 representing second trance for the construction and improvement of Guina-ang water system.
Last year, a total amount of P28.1 million was also allocated for 20 projects, of which — based on the data of the Provincial DILG Office — 13 of these are already 100 percent completed.
