LEGAZPI CITY, Albay: Albay Gov. Joey Salceda has ordered the release of the P20- million Productivity Enhancement Incentive (PEI) for employees of the provincial government. Salceda’s directive resulted from President Benigno Aquino 3rd recently signing Executive Order 181 granting either P5,000 or one-month basic salary of government employees across the country. “We are releasing it on June 1 just in time for the payment of tuition and other upfront school expenses,” Salceda told The Manila Times. Since 2007, according to him, the provincial government of Albay has consistently exercised fiscal prudence even while exceeding its fundamental goals in education, health, tourism, and agriculture. The one-time grant of the PEI covers government employees from national government agencies, Congress, judiciary, Civil Service Commission, Commission on Elections, Office of the Ombudsman, Government-Owned and -Controlled Corporations, Local Water Districts, Government Financial Institutions and Local Government Units. For government personnel to receive the incentive, they must have four months’ tenure in the government before May 31, 2015. Consultants or laborers hired through job contracts, student workers and apprentices and individuals as well as groups whose services are engaged through job orders, contract of services and others similarly situated are excluded from receiving the government incentive.
