P25-M worth of smuggled goods seized

THE Bureau of Customs on Friday confiscated smuggled cigarettes and condiments after conducting a raid in a warehouse in Tondo, Manila.

The smuggled products were hidden in a warehouse located in the corner of Padre Rada Street and Elcana Street in Tondo.

Customs operatives and agents said they received a report that the warehouse shelters smuggled goods. After acquiring a search warrant, the team headed immediately to the warehouse where they found the smuggled items.

Besides cigarettes and condiments, customs operatives also found a container van in the warehouse believed to be used by the smugglers in transporting the smuggled goods.

Customs Commissioner Rozzano Rufino “Ruffy” Biazon said the seized good was estimated to be worth P25 million.

No arrest was made as nobody was in the warehouse when Biazon’s men conducted the raid.
