• P2B for CHED scholars

THE Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has set aside P2 billion to fund the education of at least 161,495 needy yet deserving students through government’s various scholarship programs for the academic year 2015-2016.

Of this amount, P1.3 billion was allotted for 108,436 students enrolled in selected state universities and colleges (SUCs) under the “Students Grants-in-Aid Program for Poverty Alleviation (SGP-PA).

The CHED also set aside P732 million for 50,745 beneficiaries for the Student Financial Assistance Program (StuFAP).

The StuFAP, which used to be funded by the now-discontinued Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) and Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP), supports poor but deserving high school and college students enrolled in public and private higher education institutions (HEIs).
