P3.2-million worth of marijuana destroyed in Benguet plantation raid

Elements of the Kibungan Police Office raided on Monday and Tuesday a marijuana plantation in Barangay Tacadang, Kibungan town, Benguet province and destroyed P3.2-million worth of marijuana plants.

However, the police failed to arrest any cultivator like the recent five plantation raids in Benguet and another in Tinglayan, Kalinga.

This was learned from Senior Supt. Davy Limmong, public information officer of the Police Regional Office Cordillera (Procor).

According to Limmong, the accomplishment is part of the sustained anti-drug operations of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in the Cordillera region, known for its marijuana plantations.

Records show that last July 9, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Administration (PDEA) also led raids in at least four places in Badew, Kibungan, Benguet where marijuana plants worth 3.28 million pesos were also seized and burned.

Also last June 20, two suspected drug dealers were arrest in La Trinidad, Benguet. Both claimed the more than 1,300 kilos of dried marijuana leaves seized from them originated somewhere in Kibungan, Benguet. PNA
