LUCENA CITY: Mayor Roderick “Dondon” Alcala led on Thursday the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new city hall building, which will house all local government offices including that of the police. Architect Felino Palafox Jr., a known urban planner, designed the four-level neo-classical inspired building. It is located on a 2-hectare lot along the Diversion Road in Barangay Kanlurang Mayao. The lot is donated by the Tantuco family. In his speech, Alcala thanked the people who were instrumental in the realization of the project, including the Tantuco family represented by Elaine Tantuco and the members of the City Council. Executive Assistant Arnel Avila said the construction will take 16. Lucena residents currently need to go to different locations to transact with the government. Quezon 2nd District Rep. Vicente Alcala also graced the groundbreaking event, along with the Lucena Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry led by Rozaldy Chua.
