• P36.5M set for school repairs


    BACOLOD CITY: The Local School Board has set aside P26.544 million for the repair and maintenance of various public elementary and high schools in this city.

    An additional P10 million was also allocated for the construction of another batch of 10 one-unit classrooms worth P1 million each this year. The total amount is sourced from the Special Education Fund.

    Resolution No. 04-10-2015 set aside P17.2 million for the repair and maintenance of school buildings while Resolution No. 03-04-2015 appropriated P9.344 million for Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses.

    Education Cluster head Ramon Viva said the project will create a good learning atmosphere to students and teachers by providing them with better educatio- nal facilities.

    “This will enhance their capabilities and teach and learn at the same time,” Viva added.

    The Executive Assistant also stressed that the current administration of Mayor Monico Puentevella plans to make this as a yearly project.

    The school board also allocated a P4-million budget for the procurement of wooden chairs and other educational equipment.

    Moreover, two separate resolutions were also passed for the fencing of Vista Alegre Granda Relocation Elementary School (VAGRES) and F.R Flores Elementary School in Barangay Punta Taytay.

    The Education and Training Center School (ETCS) in Barangay 16 will also be fenced, and P2.6million was allotted for its water and electricity services.

    A total of P4.3million was appropriated for the fencing projects.
