Tublay, Benguet: Community development projects worth P7.2 million will be implemented here under the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services – National Community Driven Development Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Tublay is one of 50 municipalities targeted for the program in the Cordillera Administrative Region.
Kalahi is one of the government’s core poverty alleviation programs.
As a 5th class municipality with a 30.43-percent poverty index, Tublay is entitled to a municipal grant allocation of P400 per resident.
Tublay’s local government will provide a cash counterpart of P600,000 for the programs.
“We value this kind of project. Rest assured that we are interested to implement KALAHI [CIDSS- NCDDP). In fact we already deposited the municipality’s counterpart,” Tublay Mayor Ruben E. Paoad said.
Paoad emphasized to the barangay officials that the program should not be used to enhance political ambitions. “This program will be led by the community, but we should show them that we are here to help and support, and not to influence them on their decisions and program implementation”, he said.
