• P8-million marijuana seized from Benguet villages


    BAKUN, Benguet: At least two villages in remote and hinterland Bakun town in Benguet were raided of illegal marijuana plantations on Wednesday. Policemen and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Cordillera hauled at least 33,700 pieces of fully-grown marijuana plants, 1,400 seedlings and 10 kilos of dried stalks valued at P8,126,000 from Sitios Nakneng and Balisawsaw in Kayapa, Bakun. Cordillera police director Chief Supt. Isagani Nerez said they will continue to eradicate marijuana as well as educate farmers to plant vegetables or rice instead.
