• P9.3-M INDEMNITY CLAIMS RELEASED TO FARMERS

    CABARROGUIS, Quirino: An amount of P9.3-million indemnity claims is set to be distributed to a total of 960 rice and corn farmers who were severely affected by Typhoon Labuyo, according to the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC). Information Officer Frelita Bartolome of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Quirino, said an amount of P8.7-million indemnity claims will go to 439 corn farmers while an amount of P592,065.51 will go to 531 rice farmers from the towns of Diffun, Cabarroguis, Saguday, Aglipay and Maddela. In partnership with the DAR, PCIC and the Department of Agriculture, Bartolome said the Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries-Agricultural Insurance Program aims “to protect the beneficiaries against losses because of pest and disease infestations, natural calamities and extreme weather conditions brought about by climate change.”
