Pacquiao brothers also file their COCs

Two brothers of Sarangani Rep. Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao have filed their respective Certificates of Candidacy (COC) on Monday.

Former boxer Alberto “Bobby” Pacquiao will run for a council seat as part of the slate of reelectionists General Santos City Mayor Ronnel Rivera and Vice Mayor Shirlyn Bañas-Nograles.

Rogelio Pacquiao, the incumbent chairman of barangay Apopong, also filed his COC in Alabel town in Sarangani province seeking the congress post of the 3rd district to succeed his elder brother Rep. Pacquiao, who will run for senator.

However, Mike Abbas, Region 12 Comelec officer said there was a problem with Rogelio’s COC. Since he is not recognized as a registered voter in Sarangani.

Abbas added that the Provincial Comelec office may accept Rogelio’s COC but this will undergo a procedural evaluation and validation as advised by the Comelec officials in Sarangani.

Rep. Pacquiao already declared that he will seek a senate post but he remains uncertain as to the political party he intends to join.          JERRY ADLAW
