THE camp of Manny Pacquiao said that the Filipino champion opted to ignore the latest Twitter and Instagram taunts of Floyd Mayweather Jr. and just focus on his training for his upcoming bout against Chris Algieri.
“Pacquiao always ignored Mayweather’s rant and he just laughed about it. He is busy with his training for his upcoming fight,” Pacquiao’s long time business manager Eric Pineda told The Manila Times in a phone interview on Monday. “Manny also told me that he really wanted to fight Floyd, so why don’t they just fight?”
In his latest posts in Twitter and Instagram, Mayweather uploaded a picture of Pacquiao being knocked out by Juan Manuel Marquez in 2012 with a caption: “My new boxing DVD is coming soon and is called “3 Ways to sleep, back, face and butt and I’m falling & I can’t get up . . . Miss Pac man is broke for a payday. Your pay-per-view numbers are a joke.”
The reigning World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Pacquiao (56-5-2 win-loss-draw record with 38 knockouts) responded to Mayweather’s insults with his usual composure.
“I’m not angry at him. I still feel sorry for him, because he acts like an uneducated person. It’s pitiful to me, and I’m praying for him,” Pacquiao said in an interview by GMA7 News 24 Oras.
Pacquiao also challenged Mayweather to finally face him in a unification bout in 2015.
“Manny is ready to fight Mayweather at any given time and place. It’s now up to Mayweather. I believe that super mega bout is close to happening soon,” said Pineda.
Pacquiao is scheduled to fight the unbeaten American WBO junior welterweight champion Algieri on November 23 at the Cotai Arena of the Venetian Hotel in Macau.
