Pacquiao look-alike aims to carve his own name

Mario Sismundo, who will see action in the World Series of Fighting Global Championship 3: Philippines vs the World at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on July 30, said that he is more than just Manny Pacquiao’s look-alike.

Sismundo, who once doubled for Pacquiao for a TV commercial, and also hails from General Santos City, has plans of his own to be a world-renowned fighter.

The resemblance is striking, in fact, when he trains at Fitbox Gym in Makati, he is often mistaken as Pacquiao.

Sismundo said that he’s inspired to be Pacman’s look-alike, “Pacquiao is no ordinary person but a world renowned personality because of his boxing prowess. And to add to that he is now a senator.”

The mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter added that through perseverance and hard work, he might be able to follow his idol’s footsteps.

Sismundo is elated to fight in the World Series of Fighting Global Championship, “It’s my dream to fight in front of a huge audience. This is a big thing, which I am dreaming for and praying for a long time.”

Sismundo’s July 30 co-main event bout in a 15,000-seater stadium alongside fighters from all over the world, will be the biggest fight of his entire boxing and MMA career.

Sismundo said that his family, particularly his late father, has been supportive of his career.

“It did not hamper my preparation or even weaken me,” Sismundo said, pertaining to the death of his father a few weeks ago. “Rather, I would do my best to win. I’m dedicating that fight to my father for I know he will be watching.”
