• Padillas to vie for Vizcaya posts anew

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya: Rep. Carlos Padilla and his wife Gov. Ruth Padilla will run for public office in the 2016 elections, but they will switch positions.

Rachel Magday, an official of the provincial Nacionalista Party (NP), said Carlos will run for governor while Ruth will file her candidacy for the lone congressional district. The said agreement was the result of the party’s meeting over the weekend.

Padilla’s successful reelection bid in the last elections made him the longest-serving congressman in the province’s political history. He became a member of the interim Batasang Pambansa under the Marcos regime from 1978 to 1984.

Last elections, Padilla beat his long-time ally turned rival, three-term Gov. Luisa Cuaresma.

Cuaresma, who ran under United Nationalist Alliance in the last elections, is expected to run again for the congressional post in the province next year.

Under Cuaresma’s ticket are lawyer Jose Gambito, three-term vice governor, who will run for governor, and lawyer Edgardo Balgos, who will run for vice governor against the incumbent, lawyer Lambert LD. Galima.

Am just curious why people complain about political dynasty but still opting to families to just swap positions as if these responsibilities where their own to dispose. Bayan gising at huwag ng hayaang mangyari ang ganitong mga sitwasyon.
