Padres finalize deal for Kemp

SAN DIEGO: The Padres signed off on the blockbuster deal to bring Dodgers slugger Matt Kemp to San Diego on Thursday after medical issues reportedly threatened to scupper the trade. The Dodgers are also sending the Padres $32 million towards the remaining $107 million Kemp is owed on his contract, which runs through 2019. Kemp has been hampered by hamstring issues in two of the last three seasons, missing 51 games in 2012 and 73 in 2013. Kemp, who was runner-up in voting for the 2011 National League Most Valuable Player award, played in 150 games in 2014, batting .287 with 25 home runs and 89 runs batted in.
