Filipino junior welterweight fighter Jason “El Nino” Pagara will clash against Vladimir Baez of the Dominican Republic on November 30 in one of the undercard fights of Pinoy Pride 23: Filipinos kontra Latinos at the Araneta Coliseum.
Pagara, who is the reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) international light welterweight champion, is expected to rely on his counter-punching prowess against Baez who holds a record of 19 victories against a loss and two draws with 17 knockouts.
“They say my upcoming opponent is very aggressive and well determined but I’m not bothered because I also prepared very well for this fight,” said the 25-year-old Pagara, who in May defeated Mexican Aaron Herrera via unanimous decision in Cebu City.
Pagara (31-2 win-loss slate with 19 knockouts) is one of the promising welterweight fighters in the Philippines.
Pagara despite his slight built is known for his speed and powerful punches. He is currently ranked No. 6 by the WBO.
Baez, for his part, comes off fresh from two consecutive technical knockout wins against Jose Santos and Jose Manzueta.
