Environment Secretary Ramon Paje will lead the country’s biggest gathering of forest practitioners as keynote speaker during the 67th Anniversary National Conference of the Society of Filipino Foresters Inc. (SFFI) in Laoag City from November 9 to 11. Around 8,000 registered foresters are expected to attend the three-day conference, with the theme “Sustainable Forest Management: Investment Opportunities for National Development.” It will be held at the Plaza del Norte Convention Center. Paje himself is a certified forester, having completed a degree of Forestry Science from the University of the Philippines in Los Baños, Laguna. Aside from Paje, the event will be attended by some of the country’s leading authorities in the forestry sector to tackle issues concerning the industry, from reviving the local wood business to investment opportunities in forestry and integration of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations community.
