• PAL lets passengers bid for seat upgrades

FLAG carrier Philippine Airlines has unveiled a flight upgrade scheme that would allow passengers to bid for an upgrade from Economy to Business Class.

Dubbed as “myPAL Upgrade,” the service innovation program, which was launched recently in partnership with technology service provider Plusgrade, invites eligible passengers via e-mail to submit their upgrade bids up to 36 hours prior to their flight departure.

Another available option is to visit the airline’s myPAL Upgrade web page where travelers can enter their flight booking reference number and last name to check if they can bid for a better seat on their next flight.

A pre-determined minimum and maximum price is defined by destination and passengers can simply choose within the defined range how much they are willing to pay for an upgrade.

At present, the upgrade bidding program only applies to select international flights.

The program will later expand to cover domestic routes and Middle East destinations.
