Foreign guests are guaranteed a power interruption-free World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia, Malacañang said on Tuesday.
Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. raised the issue to assure that the Department of Energy (DOE) continues to monitor the power supply situation in the country.
He stressed that the DOE was not working solely for the delegates of the upcoming WEF but for the benefit of Filipinos in general.
“We are not doing this for them [WEF delegates], the Department of Energy is monitoring the power supply situation for our countrymen,” Coloma said in Filipino.
The PCOO chief said that since the demand of electricity increased during the summer months, the DOE is even monitoring on an hourly-basis.
“[Energy] Secretary Jericho Petilla, while he is in the Cabinet, will continue to give updates to the President regarding the power situation” Coloma noted.
“In all times, the Department of Energy is monitoring the situation to be able to address situations that may lead to the inconvenience of our citizens,” he added. PNA
